Feroz Baby and Kids Shoe Size Guide

Everything you need to get your little one's size right, step by step.

How to choose the right shoe size for your baby or toddler

We continue to use a very simple sizing template—it's a simple rectangle that you can draw yourself even if you don't have a printer. We recommend using this template to choose the correct size.

We know that buying shoes online and getting the size right is complicated, even when it's for yourself. This becomes much more complicated when you have to get your baby's first shoe right—but we are here to try and help you solve it.

Arm yourself with patience and calm. Communicate with your baby and tell them what you are going to do so they can understand and "cooperate" with this operation.

Thanks to the new last of our baby shoes, moving from one size to the next is easier and more gradual. Your child will be able to wear their size right to the end, and the jump to the next one won't feel so big. A baby's foot grows fast and their shoes shouldn't squeeze it or reduce its mobility.

MOST IMPORTANT

  • Your child's foot needs enough space to grow healthily, but not so much that it interferes with their movement.
  • Measure both feet and use the larger measurement.
  • Measure at the end of the day, when the foot is most expanded.

STEP 04
Check the recommended margin.

IF THE MARGIN IS

> 1.5 cm - Too big
1.2 - 0.8 cm - Perfect size
0.4 cm - End of the size
< 0.4 cm - Too small

Ideally, your little one should have 1 cm free between the end of their foot and the end of the shoe. Margin: between 0.8 cm and 1.2 cm. If there is more than 1.2 cm of extra space, the shoes can interfere with their steps, especially if the baby has not yet fully developed their gait. You should change the shoes when there is 0.4 cm of space left — the foot expands when walking and needs that margin to move correctly.

Feroz Size and Measurement Chart

Ideally: 1 cm of room between the end of the foot and the end of the shoe. Acceptable margin: 0.8 cm – 1.2 cm. Move up a size when there's 0.4 cm of room left, as the foot spreads when walking.

If your child's foot measures, for example, 12.5 cm and is larger than size M but not yet size L, our recommendation is to wait for the next size and make the most of the shoe's lifespan.

How to measure width and instep to choose the right footwear

It is important to check if your little one's foot width is suitable for the shoe width. Ideally, you should use our size chart to see if the foot width fits. If you decide to measure the foot, when you measure the length, take the opportunity to mark the width as well.

To get the instep measurement, take a tape measure and measure it in the metatarsal area. If you don't have a tape measure, you can use any thread/cord and then transfer it to a ruler.

Each fierce model has adjustable opening and fastening characteristics. There are models that provide more instep and others less, depending on the flexibility of the upper.

Believe it or not, the world of shoe sizing is a mystery. Each brand can differ quite a bit; it's not a good practice to go by the size of another brand.

Baby Shoe Sizes by Month

Every baby grows at their own pace. Use this chart only as an approximate guide — never as a definitive reference for purchasing.

0–3 Months

Our recommendation is that the baby remains barefoot for as long as possible, and only wear very soft socks or booties if it's cold. Size 16–17.

4–6 months

We continue to recommend only the use of socks and booties. Size 17–18.

7–9 months

Crawling and early attempts to stand are common. Size 18–19. Feroz pre-walker models are perfect for this stage.

10–12 Months

When they start taking their first steps. Size 19–20.

13–18 Months

Exploring the environment. Size 20–21.

19–24 Months

Towards the end of the second year. Size 21–22.

How Often Do Babies' Feet Grow?

The growth of a child's foot follows a surprisingly rapid pace during the first years of life. This development is neither linear nor 100% predictable.

During their first year of life, babies' feet experience their fastest growth rate. During this period, it's common for them to need a new size approximately every 2–3 months. Their feet can grow between 1.5 and 2 centimeters in total during these first twelve months. In the second year, the pace remains fast, though slightly slower — little ones usually need a new size every 3–4 months.

Between 2 and 3 years old, growth stabilizes, requiring new sizes every 4–5 months. In the preschool stage, from 3 to 5 years old, feet grow at a rate of approximately 1 centimeter per year.

Some studies suggest that during spring and summer, children's feet tend to grow faster than in autumn and winter.

Measure your baby's feet every 6–8 weeks during the first two years, and then every 2–3 months until they are 5 years old.
