Our son Roc has been playing football for years. Like many barefoot families, we've experienced that uncomfortable contradiction : seeing healthy, free, and well-cared-for feet end up inside conventional football boots . Narrow, rigid, hot… the exact opposite of what we've always wanted to offer them.

But they do it with such enthusiasm that it's hard to say no. Because those boots represent their passion, their team, their goals, their dreams ⚽🥅🙌. And that's where the dilemma arises: how to protect their feet without stifling their desire to play?

🔬It was during a conversation about healthy children's soccer shoes with our dear friend and pediatric podiatrist 👨🏾 Roberto Pascual that everything started to take shape. We told him about our experience as a barefoot family and shared our concerns. From his clinical perspective, he helped us see that we weren't alone , that many families are in the same situation.

From that exchange Amunt was born, an exciting project that has needed months of prototypes, tests, adjustments and clinical validations to become a reality.

Our podiatry guru, Roberto Pascual, is a clinical podiatrist specializing in children, with over 25 years of experience in school checkups. His studies have been key in defining Amunt's purpose.

“ A real solution was needed for thousands of families facing a daily paradox : children who wear barefoot shoes for their everyday lives, but have to wear narrow, rigid, and non-breathable boots to play football,” he explains.

Between 2005 and 2024, Roberto documented a systematic presence of inappropriate sports footwear as common use in school environments :

• In 2005 , 79% of children (and 38% of the total student body ) went to school wearing football boots, including multi-stud models designed for artificial turf in playgrounds that didn't even have it.
• In 2024 , although the figure has dropped to 54% , it is still an alarming phenomenon .

“ No adult would walk down the street in football boots like children do , so why do we normalize it in childhood?” Pascual asks.

“ The logical thing would be to reserve that footwear only for competitive sports . That's why Amunt is a real answer, for real life. An optimal solution within the everyday context.”
